About THIS SITE
This is the relaunch of the "Nerd Retired" website. I had a blog by this name that I cancelled three years back. I started it right after retiring. I wandered away from my original plan and I ended up terminating it after only two years. It was when the bill came due for the third year that I pulled the plug.
I have now been retired for almost five years and have a much better idea of what I want to do with this site. I think I needed to experience more of retirement before I could actually move this forward in a positive way. Back before retirement I was deeply involved with social media. I think one of the problems was that my blog ended up being an extension of my Facebook page. I've since left most social media, and am much better for it.
This relaunch of the site will focus more on the intersection of retirement and living a great life. Retirement is not a time to shut down, but instead a time to get out and catch up on everything that you missed out on while you were building your career and working.
This is definitely not a site to get investment advice, there are plenty of those sites out there. This is a promise I will make here at the start. I will be focusing instead on all of the other things that are open to you in your retirement. Hopefully, you'll find this information to be both helpful and entertaining. This site will evolve over time to meet the needs of those who visit.
I spend a great deal of time outdoors. The pictures I will post here are all my own, views into my adventures in retirement. Prior to retiring I posted far too many pictures on social media. I took way too many pictures in my everyday life. My wife taught me to put the phone down, put the camera back in its bag, and instead take more pictures with my mind. Those pictures are far more valuable as memories.
It's going to take a few months to get this site back off the ground. I'm shooting for the start of 2023 for the official launch. It will be changing and updating every week between now and then.
